Welcome to Math Lesson Plans.

One of the fundamental preschool lesson plans is the kindergarten math. Learning numbers and shapes, addition and subtraction using math games will provide kids with great interactive learning experience.

Here I will use the Montessori preschool philosophy for my lesson plans because it provides great activities ranging from simple number recognition to multiplication and division, using more than just student worksheets, though they are good. But for preschoolers, they learn through their senses of touch, see, hear, and they can taste and smell math too.

Many young children enjoy saying the numbers 123 and so on...sometimes up to ten or twenty even before they begin preschool. That's great. It's an opportunity for the child to express his delights in his knowledge, and proud parents grin and take pride in their children's early head start.

However, just because kids can rattle away the numbers, word perfectly, this does not mean that they really know how to count. They may only know it by rote and not by understanding.

How then do we help preschool children in math activities that will draw out the meaning behind those numbers. Should they use fingers or abacus? Should we engage them in lots of kindergarten math activities and worksheets?

Before you zoom straight to the free printables, spend some time reading about how to prepare your child for maths readiness.
