The Montessori-Cultural-Studies for early childhood education integrates the study of science, the social sciences and the art. In this preschool Montessori education, children are taught various continents of the world and then narrows to countries, oceans, lakes and rivers. It begins with looking at the universe, solar system, zooming in onto the earth, continents, countries,.... right down to the people and their habitats.
Montessori-Cultural-Studies includes people and culture of different nations, animals and plants, climate and environment are all laid out in the preschool lesson plans.
Transportation – various types of vehicles and their parts are also covered in this Montessori preschool curriculum and lesson plans. Children enjoy the exposure of learning how other nations travel, eat, live…etc
Practical preschool activities include having pets and plants in the Montessori classroom and environment where children learn to take care of these.
Children also come together in smaller groups to do projects, like painting or building collages of the countries they study, or designing the solar system and the theme of the month will be presented by their own work on the walls or hanging from the ceiling. Parents are invited in to the Montessori classroom and the students are pleased to talk about their work and all the knowledge they have learned. Very often, the little preschool kid would know some detailed facts that parents may not have known.
